Indian shooter Manu Bhaker clinches second medal of Paris 2024

Paris, France, July 30, 2024: Indian hot shot Manu Bhaker won her second medal of Paris 2024 at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre on Tuesday. Teaming up with Sarabjot Singh, the pair finished third in the 10m air pistol team event.

 

Manu, 22, was winning her second bronze of the Olympics after finishing third in the women’s 10m air pistol, thereby becoming the first Indian athlete to earn two medals in the same Olympics.

 

Manu and Sarabjot took on Korea’s Lee Won-ho and Oh Ye-jin in the battle for third place and the Indian duo won the match by 16-10.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X formerly Twitter: “Our shooters continue to make us proud! Congratulations to @realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. 

 

“Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted. 

 

“For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication.”

 

Team India added: “BRONZE MEDAL!!!!! Incredible shooting from Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh to win us our second medal at @paris2024 Olympic Games. With this, Manu also becomes the first Indian athlete to win 2 Olympic Medals in a single edition!”

 

The dynamic duo showcased exceptional teamwork and precision, earning applause not only from their home fans but also from the international audience. Their performance has further solidified India's growing reputation in the shooting arena.

 

 

 

Upon winning the match, Bhaker said: "I feel really proud and a lot of gratitude. It is just blessings. Thanks for all the blessings and love. We can only control what is in our hands. I had a chat with my partner regarding this and decided we keep fighting till the last shot."

 

Singh said: "It feels great. The game was tough, but glad we could do it."

 

In the final, Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec of Serbia came from behind to edge Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec of Türkiye 16-14.
