Korean shooters break Olympic record for gold and silver

Paris, France, July 28, 2024: Korea’s Oh Ye Jin fired an Olympic record score of 243.2 points to win shooting gold in the women’s 10m air pistol at Chateauroux on Sunday.

 

Oh, 19, took the gold medal ahead of team mate Kim Yeji, who finished second for silver with 241.3 -  a score that also beat the previous Olympic mark.

 

There was joy in the Indian camp as Manu Bhaker earned India their first Olympic medal at Paris 2024 by winning the bronze with 221.7.

 

The Olympic record had stood at 240.3 and was set by Vitalina Batsarashkina of the Russian Olympic Committee at Tokyo 2020.

 

Earlier on Sunday, China claimed its second shooting gold of Paris 2024 as Xie Yu outgunned Italian duo Federico Nilo Maldini and Paolo Monna in the men’s 10m air pistol final.

 

Debutant Xie came from behind to claim victory on 240.9, 0.9 ahead of silver medallist Maldini. Monna took bronze on 218.6.
