Nanning, China, July 24, 2024: The China-ASEAN Esports Industry week was officially launched at the Nanning Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday, July 19.
Among the dignitaries attending the ceremony was Chang Liang, Vice President of the Big Data Development Bureau of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, and Sebastian Lau, Director General of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation.
This event stemmed from the partnership established earlier this year between the AESF and the Big Data Development Bureau. An esports forum and other activities are being held during this Esports Industry week.
In his opening address, Lau said this event was a significant milestone in esports development in southwest China and a step forward in further strengthening China-ASEAN relations.
Lau said that national teams and esports enthusiasts from Southeast Asia and China would benefit through sports and cultural exchanges.
An inaugural China-ASEAN Esports Competition is scheduled to take place in September 2024 in Nanning. National teams from all ASEAN countries and China are invited to participate. The AESF will oversee the competition as technical delegate.
