Tashkent, Uzbekistan, July 21, 2024: Uzbekistan will field the largest Olympic squad in its history, including 90 athletes in 19 sports, at the Paris 2024 Games which get underway on Friday, July 26.
Four sports will also be making their Olympic debut for Uzbekistan – archery, diving, men’s football and women in wrestling.
The Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee had an official press conference for the Paris-bound delegation at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Fame in Tashkent last week.
Speaking at the ceremony, Oybek Kasimov, NOC Secretary General, highlighted the great work of the various national federations in earning qualifying quotas for 75 of the 90-strong athletes’ delegation.
Also attending the official send-off was Sports Minister Adham Ikramov and NOC Vice President Ravshan Irmatov who were among other senior sports officials.
The Uzbekistan Olympic delegation will leave for Paris on Tuesday, July 23.
