Paris, France, July 21, 2024: The International Olympic Committee Executive Board approved two athletes’ changes of sporting nationality for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at its meeting in Paris on July 20.
The IOC EB accepted two applications for a change of sporting nationality, in accordance with Rule 41 of the Olympic Charter.
Both changes of nationality are in view of the Olympic Games Paris 2024:
Anna Prakaten – Rowing – from Russia to Uzbekistan
Kaii Liam Winkler – Swimming – from USA to Germany
The Belarus-born Prakaten, 31, won a silver medal in women’s single sculls at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games representing the Russian Olympic Committee.
After changing her nationality to Uzbekistan, Prakaten won gold in the women’s single sculls at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, last September ahead of silver medalist Liu Ruiqi of China and bronze medalist Yonekawa Shiho of Japan.
