OCA, HAWGOC conduct second IT Audit Meeting

Harbin, China, July 5, 2024: The Olympic Council of Asia and the 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025 Organising Committee conducted their second IT Audit Meeting in Harbin on July 3-4.

 

Wang Tieli, Deputy Secretary General of HAWGOC, delivered the opening remarks at the meeting, and Waleed Mubarak, Director of the Technology and Information Department of the OCA, led the OCA delegation.

 

Eva Maria Cordoba, Founder and CEO of Bornan Sports Technology, attended the meeting.

 

Representatives from the HAWGOC IT Department, Executive Office (General Planning Department), Human Resources and Volunteers Department, Communications and Media Operations Department and International Relations Department, as well as managers and staff members from the Asian Winter Games Office of the China Unicom Harbin branch, were also present throughout the meeting.

 

Wang Tieli said: “Under the guidance of the OCA, we have strictly followed the requirements of the Host City Contract and the Olympic Council of Asia IT and Digital Guidelines to formulate and implement the Proposal for Harbin 2025 Information Technology and Telecommunication Systems. 

 

“We have accelerated the development of IT platforms related to the Games operations, and all work is progressing in an orderly manner. 

 

“In particular, after the first OCA IT audit, we have addressed every suggestion and recommendation made by the audit team, continuously optimised the planning, improved the content of the projects, established a reporting mechanism with the Technology & Information Department of the OCA and made every effort in all aspects of the IT operations for the Asian Winter Games.”

 

The IT auditors introduced the scope and content of the current audit, as well as the overall requirements for the IT operations in the Asian Winter Games. The participating departments and suppliers engaged in in-depth discussions with the IT auditors on the selection of IT service suppliers for the Games, the preparation for test events, the construction of communications and infrastructure, the compilation of session-related project requirement books, the venue inspection plan and broadcasting and media-related content. They also answered questions from the auditors.

 

OCA IT technical officials and IT auditors expressed their satisfaction of the preparatory work of IT services for the Games and their sincere gratitude for the hard work of HAWGOC. 

 

The IT auditors stated that the preparatory work for the Games has already made solid progress. They expressed their hope that the matters discussed at the IT audit meeting will be summarised and sorted out to ensure the steady and orderly progress of the subsequent preparatory work.

 

On the afternoon of July 4, Waleed Mubarak and his team conducted an on-site visit to the Heilongjiang Ice Events Training Centre, including the HIC Speed Skating Oval, HIC Multifunctional Hall and HIC Figure Skating Training Hall, and the Harbin Ice Hockey Arena. 

 

They inspected the competition venues for the ice events, athlete and VIP lounges and IT operations areas, as well as the functional rooms of the venues and the broadcasting rooms.

 

The 9th AWG will take place in Harbin next February.
