UAE NOC welcomes Japanese officials for Olympic cooperation talks

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, July 3, 2024: The Secretary General of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee, His Excellency Faris Mohammed Al-Mutawa, received in his office in Dubai two prominent Japanese leaders on Tuesday, July 2.

 

They were H.E. Jun Imanishi, Consul General of Japan in Dubai, and Masahiro Shiriya, CEO of the Japanese Shikibo Company, specializing in the production and export of fabrics.

 

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the parties and advance the Olympic Movement in both countries.

 

UAE’s participation in the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan in 2026 was discussed, as this will be the third time for Japan to host the OCA’s showpiece event following Tokyo 1958 and Hiroshima 1994.

 

The meeting also reviewed the design of the uniform to be worn by the UAE delegation in the opening and closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics from July 26 to August 11.

 

The meeting was attended by UAE NOC board members H.E. Nora Al Jasmi and H.E. Abdul Aziz Al Salman, and by H.E. Mohammed bin Darwish, NOC Executive Director.
