SF&OC President Timothy Fok calls for public support of Olympic athletes in Paris

Hong Kong, China, June 30, 2024: The 4th Inter-School Fitness Challenge in Hong Kong, China took place in the gymnasium of the Hong Kong Chu Hai College on Saturday, June 29.

 

The event was organised by the Sports Legacy Company Limited of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust under the Jockey Club’s “Flying High” sports programme.

 

Over 320 students from 24 secondary schools demonstrated the values of Olympism - excellence, friendship and respect - while competing in 10 fitness exercises against the clock.

 

Kowloon True Light School finished first, ahead of S.K.H. Li Ping Secondary School in second place, Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School in third and Concordia Lutheran School fourth.

 

SF&OC President Timothy Fok said: “Other than bringing Olympic values to schools, we hereby invite everyone to enjoy the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and support the participation of the Hong Kong, China delegation in the Olympic Games.

 

“The Hong Kong, China team has qualified for more than 30 events in Paris and the government has purchased the broadcast rights.”

 

Prof. Herman Hu, Chairman of the Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Department Committee, added: “The Sports Legacy Company Limited of the SF&OC has been bringing the Olympic values into schools. 

 

“It is encouraging to witness the positive impact of our efforts through the Jockey Club’s ‘Flying High’ sports programme. The students pushed their limits with the support of their peers, demonstrating the values of the Olympic motto: Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together.”
