Iraqi Prime Minister approves construction of world-class sports complex

Baghdad, Iraq, June 30, 2024: The National Olympic Committee of Iraq has announced that Prime Minister Mohammed Shi’a Al-Sudani has approved the construction of a sports facility to international standards.

 

“In response to a request of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, the Prime Minister directed the construction of a sports facility according to international standards with large areas and modern technologies,” the NOC said in a press statement.

 

“The facility, which is scheduled to see the light of day in the coming period, will include swimming pools, specialised sports halls, administrative, technical and medical facilities for athletes and headquarters for national federations, as well as media, conference and research centres,” the statement quoted NOC First Vice President Khalid Kabian.

 

“The facility will be a scientific model with international specifications and will be superior to others in most countries in the region and will be worthy of Iraq’s history, civilisation, prestige and the aspirations of its athletes and fans,” he added.
