Bahrain Olympic Academy receives ‘Athena’ award at IOA Young Ambassadors Session

Olympia, Greece, June 29, 2024: The "Athena" Honorary Distinction was awarded to the National Olympic Academy of Bahrain during the opening ceremony of the 64th International Session for Young Olympic Ambassadors earlier this month.

 

The award was presented to the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, during the opening ceremony at Ancient Olympia.

 

The main topic of this year’s session was: “The athlete in society” with the special topic: “The athlete in modern society: inspiring and fostering unity.”

 

The President of the International Olympic Academy, Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, welcomed the Young Ambassadors from all over the world, sending a message of peace: “In a few days the Olympic flame will burn over the Olympic Stadium of Paris, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower, conveying the ideas and values from Ancient Olympia to the capital of France and through it to the whole world,” he said.

 

The opening ceremony was coordinated by the IOA Director, Dr. Makis Asimakopoulos, and was attended by, among others, the President of the Olympic Academy of Saudi Arabia, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed.

 

The Session was attended by 140 young people from 80 countries, while 20 coordinators and 11 speakers contributed to the Session.
