OCA Athletes’ Committee member earns Commonwealth recognition

Singapore, June 23, 2024: OCA Athletes’ Committee member Terry Tay of Singapore has been elected to the Commonwealth Games Association’s Athletes Advisory Commission.

 

The recently retired gymnast was a trailblazer in his sport. He was the first Southeast Asian male gymnast to have a gymnastics move named after himself in the FIG Code of Points, named the “Tay'', in 2013.

 

Outside of the mat, Terry also has been a model and leader in nurturing and cultivating sports excellence in Singapore. He is currently on the Singapore National Olympic Council Athletes’ Commission. On a regional level, Terry also is a member of the Olympic Council of Asia, as a member of the Athletes’ Committee.

 

Terry retired in March 2024 after a glittering career spanning almost 25 years. He competed at three Asian Games from 2014 to 2022, three world championships, two Commonwealth Games and five SEA Games.
