New Delhi, India, June 20, 2024: The Indian Olympic Association has congratulated archer Bhajan Kaur for securing a quota place at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kaur booked a ticket to Paris in the women's individual event with a gold medal in the final Olympic Qualifier in Antalya, Turkiye on Sunday, June 16.
In the last World Quota Tournament, recurve archer Kaur overwhelmed top seed Mobina Fallah of Iran, 6-2, in the final to clinch gold and India’s second quota in Paris.
The other Olympic berth was won by Dhiraj Bommadevara, who secured an individual men’s recurve archery quota from the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament in Bangkok last year.
The Indian men’s and women’s teams failed to obtain direct quotas from the Antalya qualifiers. India’s individual quotas, however, can be upgraded to team quotas if the men’s and women’s teams can make the cut through their world rankings on June 24. It will also entitle India to two additional quotas in each individual event.
