Lausanne, Switzerland, June 18, 2024: India’s IOC Member Mrs Nita Ambani is among 15 IOC Members being proposed for re-election by the IOC Session in Paris next month.
Mrs Ambani was proposed for re-election by the IOC Executive Board at its recent meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The IOC EB proposed eight new IOC Members for election to the 142nd IOC Session, which will meet in Paris on July 23-24 and August 10, as well as the re-election of 15 IOC Members within the age limit.
These 15 IOC Members are arriving at the end of their eight-year term, following their election or re-election in 2016. They will be proposed for re-election for another eight years, with the age limit being taken into consideration for the end of the terms (80 for those elected before December 1999 and 70 for those elected after that date).
They include the IOC President Thomas Bach as well as Mrs Ambani, who was elected in 2016 as an Independent Individual.
Mrs Ambani, 61, is the Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation (2010-) and co-owner of the league cricket teams Mumbai Indians (2008-), MI Cape Town (2022-), MI Emirates (2022-) and the Mumbai Indians women’s team (2023-).
She is also the Founder and Chairperson of Football Sports Development Limited, which operates the Indian Super League (2014-).
