Malaysian archers make history with Olympic qualification

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 15, 2024: The Malaysian women's archery team has earned an historic ticket to compete in the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, the Olympic Council of Malaysia reports.

The team, represented by Tokyo Olympian Syaqiera Mashayikh, Nurul Azreena Mohamad Fazil and Ariana Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi, made history by qualifying for the team event for the first time at the Olympic Games.

They secured their spot by winning 159-141 against Colombia in the quarterfinal round of the Final Olympic Qualifier held in Antalya, Turkey on Friday, June 14.

Earlier, Ariana Nur Dania had already confirmed her place in the women’s individual event last year. She helped secure another slot for the team event, alongside Syaqiera, who competed in the last Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, and Nurul Azreena, who will make her debut in Paris.
