Kathmandu, Nepal, June 10, 2024: The Nepal Olympic Committee began Olympic Day 2024 celebrations on Saturday, June 8, with hundreds of schoolchildren and officials of the NOC participating in an opening ceremony.
The Nepal Olympic Committee has planned a 16-day celebration of Olympic Day, ending on June 23, to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Movement - June 23, 1894.
NOC Vice President Jyoti Rana inaugurated the proceedings and she welcomed all participants at a colourful ceremony complete with a marching band and dancers.
Nepal became a member of the International Olympic Committee in 1963 and has been observing Olympic Day ever since.
