‘Dynamic’ Asia makes big contribution to Olympic movement

Kuwait City, Kuwait, June 9, 2024: Asia is playing a “dynamic” role in the development of sport and the Olympic Movement, according to the OCA Director General, Mr. Husain Al Musallam.

In an interview with OCA social media, Capt. Husain says the unity of the 45 National Olympic Committees in Asia highlights the power of sports to overcome cultural and political differences.

“Asia is a dynamic continent and Asia always has a very positive contribution to the sports,” he said.

“This year and next year we will have two very important games – the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi in November 2024 and the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China in February 2025.

“As you know, sport can play a very important role for a safe society. Sport always contributes very positively on the human development; sport always creates health; sport always creates friendship.

“With the biggest continent in the world – diverse culture, diverse language, a lot of political differences – they are united in sport: 45 National Olympic Committees always together, regardless of their differences in language or colour.

“They are one voice. This is what we aim for, and this is why we have an obligation to have a busy calendar, to engage the maximum number of youth, to be a good person in their respective society.”
