Manama, Bahrain, June 5, 2024: OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam welcomed delegates from 26 National Olympic Committees in South, Central and West Asia to the Olympic Solidarity/OCA Regional Forum 2024 at the Crowne Plaza in Manama, Bahrain on Wednesday morning.

The OCA Director General thanked the Bahrain Olympic Committee for organising the second half of the OS/OCA Regional Forum and gave special acknowledgement to BOC Vice President His Highness Shaikh Isa Bin Ali Al Khalifa for attending the event.

“This is an important meeting coming just weeks before the Paris 2024 Olympics and I thank the NOCs who have gathered here to discuss matters related to Paris 2024 as well as upcoming OCA Games,” Al-Musallam said.

Bahrain Olympic Committee Secretary General Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, welcoming all NOC delegates, urged them to take full benefit of the presence of Olympic Solidarity Associate Director Olivier Niamkey.

“We are happy to have Olivier here as he can further educate NOCs on the Olympic Solidarity programmes which range from grassroots to courses for coaches and administrators,” Al Kooheji said.

Touching on upcoming OCA events, the BOC Secretary General stated that, on the evidence of the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, he was fully confident that the Chinese organisers of the Harbin Asian Winter Games in February 2025 would put on an equally good show.

“I’m also a part of the Coordination Committee for the next Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan and, as such, I’m confident it will be successful. Similarly, I have great faith that the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok later this year and the Asian Youth Games in Tashkent next year will be a success,” Al Kooheji said.

“This forum, which was held in Kuala Lumpur a few days ago, was highly successful, and I hope our forum will meet those same high standards,” Al Kooheji added.

The OS/OCA Regional Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 1-2 was for NOCs from Southeast Asia and East Asia.
