India wins three more quota places in boxing for Paris 2024

Bangkok, Thailand, June 3, 2024: Three Indian boxers won quota places at the second World Olympic Boxing Qualification tournament which concluded on Sunday in Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Amit Panghal (men’s 51kg), Nishant Dev (men’s 71kg) and Jaismine Lamboria (women’s 57kg) recorded fine victories as India sealed six boxing berths at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

 

The three Bangkok qualifiers will join women boxers Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg) and Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) who had earlier claimed a ticket to Paris 2024 at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

 

The Indian Olympic Association congratulated the Bangkok trio on social media on securing a Paris quota.

 

A total of 579 boxers from 133 countries and regions participated at the second World Olympic Boxing Qualification tournament in Bangkok, vying for 51 quotas. Fighters from Asia had a good outing winning 19 quotas

80kg: Weerapon Jongjoho (Thailand); Hussein Iashaish (Jordan).
