Lao gymnast receives Universality place for Paris 2024

Vientiane, Laos, June 1, 2024: Lao gymnast Praewa Misato Philaphandeth has been awarded a Universality place to compete in the Olympic Games next month.

Philaphandeth, 19, will take part in the rhythmic gymnastics competition at Paris 2024 thanks to an invitation from the IOC’s tripartite commission which allocates places to smaller National Olympic Committees.

“It’s going to be a big few weeks ahead for Praewa,” the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) posted on Friday, May 31.

Praewa competed in the 40th FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Valencia, Spain in 2023 and also at the 5th Senior Asian Championships 2024 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she finished 20th in the individual all-around.
