Kazakhstan NOC President Gennadiy Golovkin meets IOC President in Lausanne

Almaty, Kazakhstan, May 27, 2024: Gennadiy Golovkin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, met IOC President Thomas Bach during a visit to the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland last week.

 

“On behalf of our entire team, I want to thank the International Olympic Committee and personally President Thomas Bach for the invitation and warm welcome. I am confident that this visit will mark the beginning of a strong and reliable collaboration between the organisations united by a common goal,” noted Gennadiy Golovkin.

 

IOC President Bach congratulated Golovkin on his election as NOC president and expressed IOC support for the new management board of the Kazakhstan NOC.

 

Golovkin shared the priorities of the Kazakhstan NOC and said the main focus was on international cooperation and outreach programmes for athletes. He also pledged the NOC would remain a reliable partner of the IOC and would support all initiatives, especially those aimed at protecting the interests of the athletes.

 

During the visit to Lausanne on May 22-23, the Kazakhstan NOC delegation had several important meetings with the heads of IOC departments and services, where issues related to the cooperation between the two organisations were discussed.

 

A reception was also held, and other senior figures in attendance were IOC Director James Macleod, the IOC Deputy Director for Interaction with NOCs Olivier Niamkey, and the Kazakhstan NOC Secretary General Zhanar Utesheva.
