Wrestlers Aman Sehrawat and Nisha Dahiya book Paris Olympics quotas for India

New Delhi, India, May 14, 2024: Aman Sehrawat and Nisha Dahiya took India’s number of quotas in the wrestling events at the Paris 2024 Olympics to six after they booked their tickets at the final World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers in Istanbul, Turkiye over the weekend.

 

Aman Sehrawat, the Asian champion and the U23 world champion, secured a quota in the men’s 57kg on Saturday, May 11. It was India’s first Paris 2024 quota in men’s freestyle wrestling.

 

Nisha Dahiya entered the final of the women’s 68kg category to secure a quota. All of the previous four quotas for India were obtained by female wrestlers.

 

The Indian Olympic Association has congratulated Sehrawat and Dahiya, the latest additions to the Paris Olympics squad.

 

Dahiya will join compatriots in the women’s freestyle competition: Antim Panghal (53kg), Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Anshu Malik (57kg) and Reetika Hooda (76kg). No Indian wrestler has qualified in the Greco-Roman competition.
