Ramallah, Palestine, May 12, 2024: Omar Hantouli, the first athlete from Palestine to qualify for taekwondo at the Olympic Games, is gearing up for Paris 2024 by taking part in an international training camp in Uzbekistan.

Hantouli, who created a bit of sporting history for Palestine by booking a berth at the Paris Games by winning a berth at the Asian Olympic qualification tournament in Tai’an, China in March, is training in Tashkent alongside athletes from Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Uzbekistan.

This camp is also a preparation for Hantouli who will compete at the Asian Championship in Vietnam from May 16-18. This continental championship is the last major event for Hantouli prior to Paris 2024.

The President of the Palestinian Taekwondo Federation, Bashar Abdel Gawad, wished Hantouli and other Palestinian athletes in the national squad all the best at the Asian Championship.

Abdel Gawad was also appreciative of all the help and support received from the Palestine Olympic Committee in the Paris 2024 preparation programme.
