OCA thanks HH the Emir of Kuwait for continued support of Olympic Movement in Asia

Bangkok, Thailand, May 11, 2024: The 45 National Olympic Committees of the Olympic Council of Asia expressed their sincere thanks to His Highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, at the 43rd OCA General Assembly in Bangkok on Saturday.

The expression of gratitude results from the State of Kuwait’s continued support for the Olympic Movement in Asia and to the Kuwaiti government for its decision to continue the OCA headquarters in Kuwait.

The OCA has been based in Kuwait since 1982 and, in that time, the Asian Games have grown into a world-class international multi-sport event, highlighted by the outstanding success of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China last September and October.

In the 42 years since the OCA HQ has been in Kuwait, the Asian Olympic Movement has progressed, prospered and developed throughout the five zones.

The Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Raja Randhir Singh, thanked His Highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, for Kuwait’s continued support for the Asian Olympic Movement, and to the government of the State of Kuwait for continuing the OCA HQ in Kuwait.

Chief guest at the OCA General Assembly was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, who welcomed delegates from the 45 National Olympic Committees to Bangkok.
