Muscat, Oman, May 8, 2024: The Oman Olympic Committee concluded an Olympic Values Education Programme in conjunction with Olympic Solidarity.

A number of workshops were held from April 28 to May 6 at the headquarters of the Oman Olympic Committee and at the Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

The programme’s aim was to support the Oman Olympic movement across various segments of society, including athletes, coaches, students and teachers, by enhancing awareness of Olympic philosophy and its importance in shaping Omani Olympic champions.

IOC-accredited project manager Hisham bin Salem Al-Adwani directed the OVEP workshops which were attended by more than 30 trainers who will now disseminate the knowledge gained within schools, clubs or sports centres they belong to.

Al-Adwani said: “This project’s importance lies in expanding the fields and segments targeted by the OOC to support the Olympic movement in the Sultanate of Oman by reaching out to schools, clubs, academies, sports centres and even private teams where athletes are trained.

“This will establish a strong relationship between the OOC and the sports community, changing the perception of the role of the OOC of participating in Olympic events and sports competition to that of promoting Olympic values,” Al-Adwani added.
