Jakarta, Indonesia, May 7, 2024: Indonesia's capital city Jakarta, whose metropolitan area comprises a population of 30 million, will host the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships after the FIG Executive Committee approved a bid from the Indonesia Gymnastics Federation (PB Persani).

The gymnastics world championships will take place from October 19-25, 2025 at the 15,000-capacity Indoor Multifunction Stadium. This will be the first time that the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships are held in South East Asia, the International Gymnastics Federation reports.

"I met with Mr Dito Ariotedjo, the Minister of Sport and Youth, and Mr Raja Sapta Oktohari, the President of the Indonesia Olympic Committee, in Indonesia last year during the Brick Parkour Asian Tour," commented FIG President Morinari Watanabe.

"The Indonesia Gymnastics Federation, under the leadership of its president, Mrs Ita Yuliati, already demonstrated their professionalism in organising a stop on this new international Parkour event.

“I am delighted that our discussions last year led to the national federation submitting a bid for our flagship event, the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, which has now been approved by the FIG Executive Committee. I am convinced that the event will be organised to a high standard.”

The President of the Indonesia Gymnastics Federation, Mrs Ita Yuliati, welcomed the news. "We are incredibly honoured to host the 53rd FIG Artistic World Gymnastics Championships," she said.

"We would like to thank the FIG for entrusting us with the opportunity to host the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Indonesia for the first time. This is a huge history for Indonesia gymnastics and we are committed to working closely with the FIG, the Indonesian Government and all sports stakeholders to ensure a successful and unforgettable World Championships,” Mrs Yuliati added.

"Hosting the World Championships aligns with the Grand Design of National Sport (DBON) to achieving “Indonesia Emas” — Golden Indonesia — by 2045. Gymnastics, as the mother of sports, is proud to contribute and we believe the World Championships will serve as a catalyst for further development of gymnastics in Indonesia, inspiring young generations to be elite athletes to strive for excellence and proudly represent our nation on the world stage."
