IOA congratulates race walking pair on Paris qualification

New Delhi, India, April 25, 2024: The Indian Olympic Association has congratulated athletes Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh for securing a Paris 2024 Olympics quota for India in the marathon race walk mixed relay event.

 

The Indian duo obtained the berth after finishing 18th at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Antalya, Turkiye.

 

Akshdeep Singh and Priyanka Goswami clocked three hours five minutes and three seconds to make the cut for the new addition to race walk categories, the marathon mixed relay event which will be making its Olympic debut at Paris 2024.

 

The event is held in the relay format with teams, composed of one male and one female athlete, covering the full marathon distance of 42.195km in the following breakup – an initial 12.195km for the man, the next 10km for the woman, another 10km for the man, and the final 10km for the woman to the finish line.

 

Japan and China both qualified two teams at the same meet.
