Amman, Jordan, February 27, 2020: Syrian table tennis star Hind Zaza, 11, is set to be one of the youngest athletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after she booked the solitary berth for West Asia by winning the Olympic Table Tennis Qualification Tournament in Amman on Wednesday.

The winners of the men’s and women’s competitions at the West Asian qualification tournament earned a Tokyo 2020 spot, and joining Zaza was Saudi Arabia’s Ali Al-Khadrawi who won the men’s event.

Zaza booked her Olympic berth by defeating Lebanon’s Mariana Sahakian, 4-3, in the women’s final at Prince Hamzah Hall in the Jordanian capital.

Al-Khadrawi defeated Lebanon’s David Shihab in the men’s final to win his Olympic ticket.

There was agony for the hosts when Jordanian siblings Zaid and Sewar Abo Yaman both exited in the semi-finals, losing to the eventual gold medallists.
