Kazakhstan NOC elects new executive committee

Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, February 26, 2020: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan has elected a new Executive Committee. The capital of Kazakhstan hosted the General Assembly of NOC Kazakhstan and the main topic on the agenda was the election of the two key governing bodies.

The meeting was attended by the President of NOC Kazakhstan Mr. Timur Kulibayev and Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov, as well as presidents and representatives of national sports federations.

According to the NOC Kazakhstan Charter, candidatures for the positions of Secretary General and Vice Presidents are presented by the NOC President. Thus, Saken Mussaibekov was re-elected Secretary General.

All Vice Presidents were also re-elected to their positions: General Issues, Daniyar Abulgazin; Winter Sports, Askar Mamin; Summer Sports, Adilbek Dzhaksybekov; Paralympic Sports Development, Kairat Boranbayev; International Cooperation, Andrey Kryukov.

NOC President Kulibayev said: “It has been four years since the election of the Executive Committee and the Revision Committee of the NOC Kazakhstan. 

“In this relatively short period of time the Executive Committee has carried out effective work on systematization and regulation of corporate processes, including the execution of state assignment. 

“The National Olympic Federations and the Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan are now active participants in all processes in sport. With the support of the Government we are preparing teams and providing them with technical, medical and rehabilitation support. 

“Only through joint efforts will we improve the effectiveness of the system of provision and training of national teams and ensure a quality solution to fundamental issues of the Olympic movement in our country." 

The NOC President stressed that the development of sports medicine and anti-doping in sport remained one of the main priorities in the work of the NOC and national federations.

"The main measure to prevent the use of doping should be the availability of sports medicine, especially in terms of recovery and rehabilitation of all athletes of national and regional teams of both youth and adults. Once again we emphasize fair play and zero tolerance to doping".

The newly elected Executive Committee: Nurtay Abykaev, President of Volleyball Federation; Danial Akhmetov, President of Athletics Federation; Berik Imashev, President of Modern Pentathlon Federation; Dias Suleimenov, President of National Ski Association; Zhanat Tusupbekov, President of Weightlifting Federation; Bulat Utemuratov, President of Tennis Federation; Umut Shayakhmetova, President of Gymnastics Federation.

Serik Sapiyev remained the Chairman of the Athletes' Commission.

In addition, the NOC Revision Committee was elected; the Chairman is the President of the Kazakhstan Badminton Federation, Ulan Bayzhanov.

The composition of the Executive Committee and the Revision Committee of the main Olympic authority is elected every four years.
