New Delhi, India, April 22, 2024: Balraj Panwar has secured India’s first quota in rowing for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 25-year-old Indian Army rower accomplished this feat by clinching third position in the men’s single sculls event at the 2024 Asia and Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta held in Chungju, Korea on Sunday, April 21.

Panwar, who narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in his debut appearance at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, demonstrated his prowess by completing the 2000m race in a time of seven minutes and 1.27 seconds, thereby sealing an Olympic quota.

In the men’s single sculls category, the top five finishers secure berths for the Paris Olympics.

The Indian Olympic Association in a post on its Facebook page congratulated Panwar on securing an Olympic quota.
