OCA Director General seeks new cooperation with Asian Games 2010 host city Guangzhou

Guangzhou, China, April 21, 2024: Guangzhou Mayor Sun Zhiyang met with Husain Al Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of World Aquatics, on April 20.

The OCA Director General spoke highly of the preparations for the 15th National Games 2025 and the Special Olympics in Guangzhou and looked back on his long and productive association with Guangzhou, especially through the 16th Asian Games in 2010.

He said that, when he returned to Guangzhou again, he deeply felt that the city had taken on a new look, that the quality of the city had been greatly improved and the achievements of high-quality development had been remarkable. 

“I hope to take this meeting as an opportunity to carry out new cooperation with Guangzhou, jointly promote the comprehensive development of mass sports and competitive sports, and make greater contributions to promoting the development of the international Olympic cause,” Mr. Al Musallam said.

OCA Vice President Timothy Fok, who is Chairman of the Henry Fok Group; Zhou Jihong, Vice President of World Aquatics and Director of the Swimming Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China; Cui Jian, Director of Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau; and Peng Gaofeng, Vice Director of Standing Committee of Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress, also attended the meeting.

The 15th National Games of China will be hosted by Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong province in 2025.
