Iran NOC President discusses Paris 2024 with French Ambassador

Tehran, Iran, April 17, 2024: The President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, met with the Ambassador of France to Iran, Nicholas Roche, last Saturday, April 13, to discuss matters surrounding the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

 

Expressing his happiness at the presence of the French Ambassador, Khosravi Vafa said: “We are very happy that we can raise issues by holding such meetings so that both Paris will be a good host and we will also be able to send our delegation to these Games without worry.

 

“I am confident Paris will host these Games well considering the valuable experience it has in hosting and holding important sporting events, and we are certain it will be one of the best and different Olympics we will witness,” Khosravi Vafa continued.

 

The Iranian NOC President revealed that so far the country had won 22 quotas in a number of sports for Paris 2024, and was looking forward to another 10 to 20 athletes qualifying.

 

French Ambassador Roche said: “I hope the Iranian sports delegation will achieve brilliant results in Paris and that Iranian athletes will be successful. In the future, when we visit the Olympic Sports Museum in Tehran, we can see the medals won in Paris.”

 

Iran NOC Secretary General Dr. Seyed Manaf Hashemi, who is also the Chef de Mission of the Iranian delegation to Paris 2024, brought up the matter of travel restrictions and other issues facing some members of the squad, and was hopeful the French Embassy in Tehran would be able to resolve them.
