Taipei, April 16, 2024: The Peace through Sport Committee of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) invited several prominent athletes to take part in the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6 and to display the White Card symbol for peace. The CTOC campaign also included coaches and friends of the athletes.
The participants included Yang Yong-Wei (judo), Yang Jun-Han (athletics), Huang Mei-Chian (swimming), Zhuo Cheng-Chi (swimming), Zheng Zhao-Chun (javelin), Wang Zi-Wei (badminton), Wen Zi-Yun (karate), Juang Jia-Jia (taekwondo), Lin Yu-Ting (boxing), Su Li-Wen (taekwondo), Chen Yi-Fan (figure skating), Lin Yu-Tang (long jump) and Chen Jie (400m hurdles).
Other well-known athletes included the basketball players of college league champions National Chengzhi University such as Mo Ba-Yei, You Ai-Zhe (UBA Most Popular Player), Wang Kai-Yu, Song Xin-Hau and Wu Zhi-Kai, and also from Taiwan Normal University women's basketball team, Chen Yu-Jie (UBA Most Popular Player), Lin Jia-Zong, Lin Pin-Yu, Chu Zei-Xi, Tang Shu-Chun.
By gathering five friends to take a group picture with their hands forming the word "PEACE" or facing the camara to form one letter of the word "PEACE", these athletes and their friends merged the photos and uploaded them to their personal FB or IG to promote peace through sport.
The CTOC also encouraged the public to participate in the White Card campaign to spread the positive energy of sport through the Internet and use the power of sport to eliminate confrontation and hatred and to work together to promote social harmony and world peace.
