Doha, Qatar, April 8, 2024: The Qatar Olympic Committee has marked the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6 by pledging its strong commitment to support refugees through sport.
In a post on social media, the Qatar Olympic Committee said: “The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace celebrates sport’s positive contribution to creating more peaceful and inclusive societies.
“As a member of the Sport for Refugees Coalition, we support refugees and the communities that host them by fostering greater inclusion for all, improving physical and psycho-social well-being, and promoting using sports as a tool to build a society where every individual feels valued and included.”
Team Qatar athletes also raised the white card in solidarity with the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, and firmly believed in the role sports plays in spreading peace among nations.
