Pakistan NOC marks International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

Lahore, Pakistan, April 7, 2024: The Pakistan Olympic Association led “white card” celebrations to mark the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6.

POA President Syed Mohammad Abid Qadri Gillani said: “Today, let’s celebrate the power of sports to inspire unity, foster development, and build bridges for peace.”

POA Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood added: “Today, let’s join hands across the globe to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, recognizing sports as a powerful force for positive change and social cohesion.”

Several other groups displayed the white card to represent peace.

“In the spirit of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, let’s lace up our shoes, hit the fields, and embrace the power of sports to build bridges, foster resilience, and inspire hope,” was the message from the POA Athletes Commission.

There were also posts from the POA Medical Commission, karate, boxing and handball federations among others.
