Hanoi, Vietnam, April 7, 2024: The Vietnam Olympic Committee reports that, as of April 2, 2024, six athletes have booked a ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
The six Paris-bound Vietnamese athletes are: Nguyen Thi Tat (cycling), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing) and Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting).
Trinh Van Vinh was the latest Vietnamese athlete to join the Paris party this summer through his achievements at the ongoing 2024 IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Phuket, Thailand.
Trinh Van Vinh competed against eight rivals in Group B of the men’s 61kg category and recorded a total lift of 294kg comprised of 131kg in the snatch and 163kg in clean and jerk. This put him in the top nine in the Olympic rankings and booked his ticket to the Olympic Games.
