New Delhi, India, April 3, 2024: Hockey India has congratulated national goalkeeper PR Sreejesh on his appointment as co-chair of the new International Hockey Federation Athletes Committee.

“This is a testament to his dedication and leadership in hockey,” posted Hockey India on Facebook. “Congratulations to PR Sreejesh on being appointed co-chair of the new FIH Athletes Committee.”

The International Hockey Federation earlier this week announced India’s top goalie will co-chair the Athletes Committee alongside Camila Caram, captain of the Chile women’s team.

The FIH Athletes Committee serves as a consultative body and makes recommendations to the FIH Executive Board, FIH Committee, Advisory Panels and other bodies. It also provides feedback to the FIH on behalf of the athletes.

Sreejesh said: “Being part of the athletes committee itself is a great honour for me. Getting in as the co-chair is an added responsibility. I’m looking forward to working with Camila, and all the athletic committee members for the betterment of hockey players around the globe.”

Sreejesh will have to put his FIH responsibilities on hold for a bit as he is currently touring Australia with the men’s national team in a build-up to the Paris 2024 Olympics. India will play a five-match Test series against Australia starting on Saturday, April 6.
