Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee holds safeguarding workshop

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, April 2, 2024: The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee recently hosted a sports safeguarding workshop at its headquarters in Riyadh.

The workshop was designed for administrators and representatives of sports federations, committees and associations, coinciding with the 1st GCC Youth Games to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in mid-April.

During the workshop, participants discussed measures, policies and practices aimed at safeguarding athletes, particularly children and vulnerable adults, from harm and various forms of abuse, exploitation and neglect within the sports environment.

The workshop introduced the safeguarding officers who will be appointed to support the ecosystem within Games, starting from the upcoming GCC Youth Games, explaining their roles and responsibilities.

The workshop also focused on presenting solutions and suggestions to provide protection and care for those who have experienced such abuse.
