Seoul, Korea, March 31, 2024: The Chair of the OCA Entourage Committee, Ryu Seung-min of Korea, looked back on a memorable Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 during an online meeting of the committee on Sunday.

Ryu said the first Winter YOG to be held in Asia had been well supported by National Olympic Committees around the world and that athletes and their entourages had taken part in various activities under the athlete education programme.

He also updated committee members on the work of the IOC Athletes’ Commission and IOC Athletes’ Entourage Commission and looked ahead to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the agenda item on safe sport and safeguarding officers, it is the aim of the OCA to have a safeguarding officer in each of the 45 NOCs, and that a webinar or forum could help to promote the work and the aims of such an appointment.

Regarding the agenda item on the IOC’s Coaches Lifetime Achievement Awards, the OCA Deputy Director General Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari said that the OCA could follow suit in this initiative and reward coaches on an annual basis as a key part of an athlete’s entourage.

Mr. Tiwari then provided an update on OCA activities and games, including the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi province, Thailand this November, the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China in February 2025 and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan in September-October 2026.

He also looked ahead to the OCA General Assembly in Bangkok on May 11 and the two regional forums to be held in Malaysia and Bahrain in early June, with the support of Olympic Solidarity. The three main items of discussion will be the Paris Olympics, 6th AIMAG and 9th Asian Winter Games.
