OCM takes sport administrators course to Sarawak

Kuching, Malaysia, March 28, 2024: The Olympic Council of Malaysia’s Education and Training Committee coordinated the Sport Administrators Course No. 2 (2024) for sports officials of the State of Sarawak from March 21-23 at the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence in Kuching.

The course was conducted by two accredited National Course Directors, Ms. Moira Tan Siew See and Mr. Fong Wan Hor, who were assisted by three facilitators, Mr. Chong Choong Seong, Ms. Kalaivalli R. Ratnam and Mr. Ronizam Ismail.

The three-day course was attended by 46 sports officials - 35 male (76 per cent) and 11 female (24 per cent) - from state government, state/district sports association and sports clubs based in Kuching.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr. Dolhadi Mazuki, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) on Thursday, March 21, while the closing ceremony and presentation of certificates was officiated by Y.B. Dato’ Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the Minister for both MYSED and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, on Saturday, March 23.

“On behalf of Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of OCM, I would like to thank the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak for providing their great assistance to OCM in organising the Sport Administrators Course at the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence,” said Dr. Tan Kah Hock, Chair of the OCM East Malaysia Committee.

“We hope all the 46 sports officials who successfully completed the course have learnt the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship and enhanced their knowledge in sport administration,” said Ms. Moira Tan Siew See.

Y.B. Dato’ Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, in his closing speech, expressed his gratitude to the OCM for the collaboration in conducting the course for sports officials in Sarawak.

“The organisation of the Sport Administrators Course in Sarawak is timely as we need more trained officers to manage sports, to organise sports events and to manage all sports facilities in Sarawak,” he said.
