OCA’s Sporting Asia celebrates success of first Winter YOG in Asia – Gangwon 2024

Kuwait City, Kuwait, March 21, 2024: The latest edition of the Olympic Council of Asia’s quarterly newsletter, Sporting Asia, is ready to download on the official website: oca.asia.

Sporting Asia, now in its 16th season, celebrates the success of the first Winter Youth Olympic Games to be held in Asia – Gangwon 2024 – with 16 pages of news, pictures and facts and figures.

The first three months of 2024 were also a busy time for the OCA Coordination Committees, with visits to Japan ahead of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026, to China for the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin in February 2025 and to Thailand for the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi province this November 21-30.

Bangkok also hosted the first Technical Delegates Meeting and the first Chefs de Mission Meeting for AIMAG 6.

With the Olympic Games Paris 2024 starting on July 26, Sporting Asia reports from the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 and looks at leading Asian medal prospects in swimming, diving and artistic swimming. This was the 21st edition of the World Aquatics Championships and the first to be held in the Middle East, with Singapore set to stage the 2025 event and break new ground for South East Asia.

Sporting Asia – Edition 64 – for March 2024 includes all the regular features such as 11 pages of NOC News in Pictures from around the five zones, Inside the OCA with updates on the Olympic Solidarity/OCA Regional Forums and the OCA General Assembly, six pages of Women in Sport, News in Brief and OCA Sports Diary.

The Obituary pages have a special tribute to the OCA Media Committee Chair and President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China, Mr. Charles Lo, who passed away last October and will be greatly missed around the OCA circuit.
