Doha, Qatar, March 25, 2024: Ismail Dawood became the fourth Qatari track and field athlete to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Qatar Olympic Committee reports.
Ismail booked an Olympic ticket following an impressive gold medal victory in the men’s 400 metres hurdles at this month’s ASA Athletics Grand Prix Continental Tour Challenge hosted by Athletics South Africa in Potchefstroom.
Ismail cruised to victory in 48.69 seconds. The mark to qualify for this summer’s Olympics is 48.70.
The QOC stated that Ismail joins an elite group of Qatari athletes at the Paris Games. The others are Bassem Hemida and Abderrahman Samba, also in the men’s 400m hurdles, as well as the reigning Olympic champion in the men’s high jump Mutaz Essa Barshim.
