Kathmandu, Nepal, March 24, 2024: The Nepal Olympic Committee extended a warm welcome to newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, at the NOC Headquarters on Friday, March 22.
The President of the Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha, along with presidents and secretary generals of various sports associations and NOC members, were on hand to give their best wishes to Biraj Shrestha for a successful tenure as Sports Minister.
NOC President Shrestha expressed confidence regarding the support that the new Sports Minister’s tenure would bring to the development of sports in the country. The NOC chief also underscored the autonomy of sports associations while emphasising the importance of complying with the country’s laws.
Hon. Minister Biraj stressed the necessity of collective efforts across all stakeholders for the advancement of Nepal sports. He highlighted the significance of sports as a potent tool for enhancing diplomatic relations on the global stage.
Also addressing the audience were NOC Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha, President of the Nepal Basketball Association Bhim Singh Gurung and President of the Nepal Equestrian Association Ravi Raj Karnikar.
