Male, Maldives, March 21, 2024: The Maldives Olympic Committee has made a couple of significant decisions at its Annual General Assembly on March 16 in the capital Male.

The establishment of a Safeguarding Commission and the transformation of the Women’s Commission name to Gender Equity Commission were among the weighty steps taken at the MOC General Assembly.

The Chief Guest at the General Assembly was Hon. Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, and in attendance were MOC President Mohamed Abdul Sattar and Executive Committee members, representatives from the National Sports Council and the Commissioner of Sports.

Aligned with statutory requirements, the Assembly saw the approval of important documents, including the minutes of the 2023 AGA, annual report of 2023, expenditure report of 2023 and the budget for 2024.

In a bid to streamline operations, member associations were asked to submit documents to the Maldives Olympic Committee which had originally been sent to the Commissioner of Sports.

The General Assembly concluded with all members rising to the national anthem.
