Iran's men dominate Asian Wrestling Championships

New Delhi, India, February 24, 2020: Iran’s freestyle wrestlers topped the medal standings in the men’s competition at the Asian Wrestling Championships which ended in New Delhi on Sunday, February 23.

The Iranian wrestlers won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals to gain the highest number of medals among the participating countries in the men’s events at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Sport Complex.

India and Kazakhstan finished second and third respectively.

Mohammad Javad Ebrahim defeated Japan’s Takuma Otsu 11-0 to win the gold medal in the 92kg category while Mojtaba Goleij won gold in the 97kg class.

Iran’s two silver medals were won by Ahmad Bazri (86kg) and Amir Hossein Hosseini (70kg).

Iran's men had also finished top of the medals table in Greco-Roman wrestling earlier in the week.
