Swimmer Levenia Sim switches from USA to Singapore for Paris 2024

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 20, 2024: The IOC Executive Board on Tuesday approved seven athletes’ changes of sporting nationality for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. They include Levenia Sim (swimming), from the United States to Singapore.

During the first day of its meeting at Olympic House in Lausanne, the IOC EB accepted seven applications for athletes’ changes of sporting nationality, in accordance with Rule 41 of the Olympic Charter. All seven are in view of the Olympic Games Paris 2024:

Chahrazed Ayachi – Wrestling – from France to Tunisia

Anastasiia Kirpichnikova – Swimming – from Russia to France

Aleksandr Komarov – Wrestling – from Russia to Serbia

Rachel Neylan – Cycling – from Australia to Ireland

Lisa Pou – Swimming – from France to Monaco

Levenia Sim – Swimming – from the USA to Singapore

Ingrid Simão Souto Maior – Gymnastics – from Brazil to Portugal

Backstroke specialist Levenia, who was born and raised in Alabama, United States, said she decided to represent Singapore in March 2023, after watching her older sister Letitia donning national colours for the last two years.

Letitia was 19 when she made her debut at the SEA Games in Hanoi in 2022. The breaststroke specialist won three golds, one silver and one bronze, and followed up with four golds and a silver at the 2023 Games in Phnom Penh.
