Korean weightlifter Jeon upgraded to London 2012 bronze medal by IOC

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 19, 2024: Following the disqualification of two athletes from the London 2012 weightlifting competitions and the change of the official results by the International Weightlifting Federation, the IOC Executive Board decided to reallocate medals, diplomas and medallist pins during its meeting on Tuesday.

In the men’s +105kg category at London 2012, the third-placed athlete was disqualified by the IWF, and the bronze medal has now been reallocated to Jeon Sang-guen (KOR).

In the same weight category, the fourth placed athlete has also been disqualified, following a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. As a consequence, all the rankings from third to eighth place have been adjusted by the IWF.

As all legal procedures have now concluded, the medals, diplomas and medallist pins would be reallocated as follows:

3- JEON Sang-guen (KOR)

4 - Ihor SHYMECHKO (UKR)

5 - Jiri ORSAG (CZE)

6 - Almir VELAGIC (GER)

7 - Shih-Chieh CHEN (TPE)

8 - Peter NAGY (HUN)
