Wang climbs to No. 1 in men’s table tennis world rankings

Beijing, China, March 19, 2024: Chinese left-hander Wang Chuqin climbed to the top of the men’s singles table tennis rankings as the International Table Tennis Federation released its latest world rankings on Tuesday, March 19, Xinhua News reports.

After taking home 2,000 points from his triumph at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Singapore Smash, the 23-year-old Wang (with 8,020 points) leapfrogged his compatriot Fan Zhendong (5,788) to the top spot.

WTT Singapore Smash finalist Liang Jingkun rose two places to third with 3,955 points, followed by his teammate Ma Long, who has dropped one place to fourth, with 3,660.

Sun Yingsha continued to sit atop the women's singles rankings with 7,150 points, while WTT Singapore Smash winner Wang Manyu jumped one place to second on 5,437.

In a China top five, Wang Yidi moved up one place to third (5,305), Chen Meng dropped two spots to fourth (4,935) and Chen Xingtong (3,365) climbed one place to fifth.
