Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 14, 2024: Malaysia’s Deputy Chef de Mission for this summer’s Olympic Games, retired squash ace Nicol David, has paid tribute to the dedication and determination of the country’s Paris-bound athletes.

Nicol, the eight-time world squash champion, has been visiting the five Malaysian athletes who have qualified for Paris 2024 as part of her role as Deputy CDM.

In a Facebook post, Nicol said: “As we come closer to the Olympic Games in Paris, I was able to catch up with our Malaysian athletes that have qualified for the Games.

“We currently have five Malaysians athletes that have confirmed their spot in Paris. After my visit, I’m just so inspired by their efforts and dedication towards their mission.”

Nicol listed the five athletes.

“Nur Aisyah @aisyahzubir__ is our first female road cyclist for Malaysia in history to qualify for the Olympics Games.

“Then we have Bertrand (Rhodict) @rhodict and Ariana (Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi), our young Malaysian talents going out to Paris to represent in diving and archery, and also Johnathan (Wong Guanjie) @johnnywg92 and Nur Shazrin @shazrin_latif that have produced great achievements in shooting air pistol and sailing to qualify in this Olympics.

“I want to wish them the very best with their training until the Games and can’t wait to be part of this amazing experience together with our Malaysian athletes,” Nicol concluded.
