Boxing twins Aibek and Nurbek Oralbay make history for Kazakhstan with Paris qualification

Astana, Kazakhstan, March 13, 2024: Boxing twin brothers Aibek and Nurbek Oralbay will represent Kazakhstan at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This is the first time that a set of boxing twins will represent Kazakhstan at the Olympics. Aibek and Nurbek, 23, secured their Olympic berths at the first boxing world qualifier in Busto Arsizio, Italy, which ended on Monday, March 11.

Head coach of the Kazakhstan boxing team Myrzagali Aitzhano was quoted by Kazinform International News Agency as saying: “They are twins and they both won 2024 Olympic Games berths. Nurbek competes in the men’s 80kg and Aibek fights in the men’s 92kg. They are going to be the first set of boxing twins to represent Kazakhstan at the Olympic Games.”

Aibek Oralbay won the 2018 Asian Youth Boxing Championships and took the silver medal at the AIBA World Youth Championships in the same year.

Nurbek Oralbay won a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Youth Boxing Championships and a gold medal at the 2018 AIBA World Youth Championships.
