Baghdad, Iraq, March 12, 2024: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr. Aqeel Muftin, has promised to provide financial support to all active national sports federations that are determined to achieve good results in international competitions.
Dr. Muftin, who met with representatives of all national sports federations on Monday, March 11, called on them to make more efforts to achieve better results on the international field, and assured more financial support to realise these goals.
The Vice President of Iraq NOC, Samir Al-Mousawi, pointed out that the financial committee would provide 300 million Iraqi dinars (US$229,000) to each Olympic sports federation.
On his part, NOC Secretary General Haitham Abdel Hamid stressed the need for coordination with all sports federations to prepare outstanding athletes, urging them to put in place a long-term strategy to nurture such individuals.
